Casual Classics Challenge

I'm joining MizB's Casual Classics Challenge. You just have to read 4 classics in 2009! Here are my selections in order of publication:

Armadale by Wilkie Collins (1866)
The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck (1931)
Brave New World
by Aldous Huxley (1932)
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand (1957)

I still want to finish Rand's The Fountainhead and Collins's Poor Miss Finch as well. If you have read any of these titles, feel free to share your (preferably spoiler-free) opinions about them in the comments!

Just wanted to say that I LOVE your new blog look, Shauna. :)

Oh...and thanks again for the book. Ummm....I can't imagine HOW you knew I wanted to read it. ;)

Fountainhead is something I ought to reread. I was in high school when i read it and i thought it was a great read, but the philisophy she espouses is ugly in despicable. I remember thinking she was trying to brain wash me at times. I just reread Brave New World. I love, love, love that book. It's a lot more shocking to me today than it was when I read it in high school. Never read your other two, but TGE has been on my list for few years. (I should give snaps to my AP English teacher, Mrs. Lance, for the good reads I had in hs)
