WFMW: A New Birthday Tradition
I love an idea I saw in Family Fun Magazine recently. A child's parents took a photo of her every year on her birthday in the same women's swimming suit, which of course did not fit at first. Seeing how the girl changed in the swimsuit from year to year until she was finally grown enough for the suit to fit her was so cool, so I decided to adopt the tradition for our family.
Instead of a swimsuit, I opted for a pareo that has sentimental value; I bought it at a market in Tahiti on a solo trip during my world traveling days. You could try photographing your child annually in Daddy's shoes, a silly hat, or with another item that has meaning to your family.
I asked my daughter to pose however she wanted to with the pareo and took a lot of photos. I may print some out and start a birthday photo album. The idea would lend itself well to scrapbooking, too, although that's not likely to happen here anytime soon.

Neat idea!
Thanks for sharing that idea! I used to get that magazine when I ran an after school program. It was so chuck full of ideas.
Thanks for sharing -- what a great idea -- I will have to try and remember that one :)

I love that you're using a pareo! That's such a great idea. I've photographed my third child starting at birth and every month until he turned one on his baby quilt from my mom.
what a beautiful idea! and GORGEOUS pictures.
I love the quilt idea! Now that I think about it, I have several photos of my daughter as a baby on an afghan my Mom made. I'm going to take photos with that too!
Would love to see the photos in 18 years!
I love this idea! Now, to decide what to use for my girls...
I LOVE this idea! When my daughter was a newborn, I used a stuffed monkey and took pictures every month. But that ended when she turned one. What a fun idea to use something they could grow into!
that is a really neat idea
My mom took a picture of my brother and me in the legs of my dad's boxer shorts, once when we were little kids and once when we managed to squeeze back into them as teenagers!
A wonderful idea.
Fun, Simply Fun!
HI from your FIAR friend!
I just saw your b-day tradition. I also posted a b-day tradition but I got the idea off of the FIAR years ago! :)
